Our Ministry

Present the Gospel of Jesus Christ so that inmates may choose to enter the new covenant and receive eternal life.

1. Teach inmates to read and study the Bible and encourage daily reading.

2. Build relationships of trust with inmates, staff, and law enforcement personnel.

3. Provide resources and encouragement for spiritual growth and salvation.

4. Offer opportunities for baptism into the New Covenant.

5. Connect inmates with local churches, organizations, and outreaches for support after release.

Partnership with Local Departments

We view our ministry as a partnership with the officers and leadership of each institution. CFL seeks to be an asset, supporting the goals of reducing recidivism and encouraging positive change.

We often pray with and encourage officers who request it, while always submitting to their authority. By working together, we believe we can help foster a safer and more respectful environment among inmates and staff.

Vision

Our vision is to equip men and women to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in jails, prisons, hospitals, and other facilities.

CFL partners with local churches to:

• Mobilize believers to reach the incarcerated.

• Build credibility and relationships with facility leadership.

• Connect released inmates with congregations for long-term discipleship.
  

All ministers serving under CFL are licensed and ordained, ensuring accountability and recognition as evangelists before entering facilities.

We believe in one God, revealing himself as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

• We believe the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God.

• We believe in the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension, and promised return in glory.

• “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” – John 14:6

• We believe salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ.

• We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who empowers believers to live holy lives.

• We believe in the resurrection of both the saved (to eternal life) and the lost (to eternal separation).

• We believe in the unity of all believers in Jesus Christ.

Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ.

• Minimum of 3 years in Christ (exceptions with pastoral recommendation).

• Must pass all background checks required by the facility.

• Agree to the Bible as the ultimate authority (no other texts permitted).

• Must follow all facility requirements and guidelines.

• Bibles: KJV, NKJV, NASB, NIV, NLT, HCSB

• Approved tracts

• Bible studies & correspondence courses

• Music ministry

• Small items like candy or mints (when allowed)

Direct access to inmates (pods or cell groups).

• Permission to use approved teaching aids (electronic or print).

• A minimum of 1 hour per pod for ministry.

• A consistent weekly or bi-weekly ministry schedule.

3–6 months of supervised training with CFL staff.

• Evaluation of conduct toward inmates and staff.

• Licensing under CFL ministries after approval.

• After 1 year of service, evaluation for ordination.

• Ordained ministers may then train, license, and mentor new ministers.

Do’s

• Build personal, respectful relationships with inmates and staff.

• Pray with those who request it.

• Present the Gospel truthfully, lovingly, and without compromise.

• Learn names and faces to show care.

• Listen with sincerity.

• Encourage Bible reading and group participation.

• Obey all facility staff instructions without complaint.

Don’ts

• Never belittle or act condescendingly.

• Do not give legal advice or criticize the justice system.

• Do not make outside contacts for inmates without approval.

• Do not bring unapproved materials into facilities.

• Do not discuss the death penalty.

• Do not hand out unapproved Bibles or writing instruments.

• Do not use stapled literature or paper clips.

Use the Holy Bible alone as the final authority.

• Confirm doctrines with at least three scriptural references and context.

• Present the Gospel with authority and love.

• Remember many inmates may have limited biblical knowledge—teach with patience and clarity.

• Be compassionate to those with substance abuse, mental health, or literacy struggles.

• Avoid unnecessary arguments or divisive theological debates (e.g., hyper-grace, Calvinism, flat-earth theories, denominational exclusivity, cessation of gifts, etc.).

3 - Repent of sins.

4 - Be baptized into Christ.

5 - Live a life of obedience to God
